During the Winter season I see a lot of cold and flu patients, especially those who continually get sick from what we call a weakened Wei Qi (Western medicine would call this the immune system). Patients flooded in, as soon as temperatures dropped about a month ago when we suddenly dipped down to the 70s (in Hawaii, basically the equivalent of 50 degrees), we had 5 straight days of rain, and the most pathogenic Evil of them all - WIND! Wind pathogen invades at the skin surface level and enters through the nostrils or Wind Pool (fēng chí) - acupoints located at the back of the neck & base of skull.
The Wei Qi will be overpowered by Wind pathogen if it does not have sufficient Kidney Yang Ming ministerial Fire energy to provide the warmth for nearly all of our bodies physiological functions. In the Winter cold, Kidney Yang deficiency commonly presents with symptoms such as: lack of Zhí (willpower, ambition, drive), frequent colds and flu from weakened immune system, fatigue, early AM “cocks crow diarrhea”, low back and knee pain, infertility, frequent PM urination, edema (water retention), an imbalance of fear …. but most importantly all of this in conjunction with the sensation of COLD.
This bone broth is packed with warming herbs to tonify Qi & Blood and support Kidney Yang all Winter long & Bubba always knows by the aromatic scent of the broth and waits patiently to enjoy the bones after I’m done cooking. Herb packets are sold at Moon Gate.
